This is a rugged 2.80/2.50-4 (also referred to as 9″ x 2.5″) rear caster wheel assembly for the PaceSaver Scout Boss 6 series power chairs.
The valve stem sticking out from this wheel would normally indicate that this is a pneumatic tire with an air-filled inner tube, but that is not the case with this wheel! PaceSaver injects a foam solution into the inner tube to convert this into a solid, foam-filled, flat-free caster wheel. Weighing in at 7 lbs., this is a heavy-duty wheel that is built to last.
If you were so inclined, you could also replace the tire and inner tube of your old caster wheel to convert your wheel into a true pneumatic wheel assembly for a softer ride. Just swap out your old tire and foam-filled inner tube with our 2.80/2.50-4 (9″x3″) Mobility Tire and Inner Tube Set with Ribbed Tread.
Likewise, you could also replace your old tire and tube with a true 2.80/2.50-4 (9″x3″) Foam-Filled Mobility Tire with Spirit Ribbed Tread (Primo).
