This is truly one of the most interesting tires that we offer. Like a proverbial jack-of-all-trades, the ubiquitous 16″x1.75″ size can be found on a number of recreational scooters, BMX bikes, classic wheelie bikes, folding bikes, recumbent 3-wheel trikes, and even jogging strollers!
The secret to this humble little tire’s perfection is its KF831 tread. Like scaled-down rubber from off of a classic street-legal Euro-scooter, this “street tread” uses radiating shallow grooves (or “sipes”) that provide the necessary traction on the concrete sidewalk or the city park lawn, yet it is smooth enough to be a breeze to pedal, push, and control with minimal resistance.
We have combined this superb tire with a 16″x1.95″ inner tube, and you can see why we have a perennial winner with this great tire & tube combination set.
Note: This is the same tire and tube size that was used on the classic Schwinn Sting-Ray Krates, Raleigh Choppers, Sears Spyders, and Huffy Penguins.
